And in Mississippi. I just rescued from dog in our backyard. We do live close water but from what I’ve seen so far, they don’t go too far from the water. She’s missing an eye. Bringing her to rescue in the morning.

So you seem knowledgable and due to lack of comments, forgive me here, small enough i may actually get a good response. My wife and i rescued a cockatiel from a TERRIBLE STORE. This poor bird was basically in a lunchbox with so many toys and crap he could MOVE AT ALL much less open his wings. Its been a year and a half. He still wont let us nesr him or anything. He doesnt attack us anymore, but we cannot handle him. When we used to let him(and my black cap conure) out, he was a pain to get back in the cage(big flight cage, he has plenty of room) usually having to resort to towelling him. I just wanna be able to hold and pet him without him fearing for his life... he is safe now. I lt just tears me apart that he still lives in fear

💯 This is one of my cats favorite games!! We call it "find the treat". Like you said, I borrowed the idea from a dog-owning friend. My cats were all former ferals or colony cats, so they may be better hunters than ones that grew up in a house. I started hiding them in visible locations, but on a high level of the cat tree, or balanced on a random baseboard.

This was very helpful actually. My cat already likes pets but hates being on my lap or on my chest, probably from trauma from his previous owner. I'll try the treats and hopefully eventually he will be a lap cat!

Super helpful video! I have two neutered males, ages 6 and 7. The older one has lived with me since he was a kitten, and the only animals he interacted with were my dogs. My other cat came from a hoarding situation so he’s VERY used to sharing space with other cats. I was very worried at first because they have slightly different play styles, and I was worried their communication would get lost in translation. But luckily I think that from this video, they’re just playing and being rough. Thanks!

Wouldn't letting a cat while it's sleeping be betrayal of trust? If it doesn't accept pets when awake, but you fuss them when asleep, waking up to find you fusing on them wouldn't it be upsetting and frightening for them

I am disapointed in this video. I was hoping to have suggestions of breed of cats for each element, to better understand each element type.

My cat Henry loves his play tunnel, he will come to me sometimes and run ahead of me if I’m heading towards the lounge where his toys are. His favourite is his tunnel and he likes me waving a wand with a big tail on it, he goes to the far end of the tunnel and I wave the wand at the other,… his little bum starts to quiver before he pounces through the tunnel. I call this him “revving up” so cute xx

I have three cats, and all respond differently to cuddles. My oldest cat is a real lap cat and comes to snuggle with me frequently and loves for me to pet her. I also have a Bengal who cuddles on her own terms 😸mostly at night under the covers. My third cat is new to my household so still not visiting my lap but loves for me to pet her otherwise

Don't touch a cats stomach... my 3 cats make it clear that they absolutely love their stomachs being rubbed, its the final checkpoint to show your cats love towards you in my opinion
